Entry and English language requirements

Brazil

Undergraduate

Completion of High School with average grades of 8.5/10

Postgraduate

Minimum of 6.5/10 or equivalent in Titulo de Bacharel / Licenciado / Professional title (4 years)

Canada

Undergraduate

We welcome applications from students holding the Canadian High School or Secondary School Diploma with an average of 75% in Grade 12.

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from students holding a minimum 2.8/4 or 70% or B in a Bachelor's (Honours) degree or a Professional Degree.

Chile

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling normally requires school leavers from Chile to complete a Foundation Year for entry to the University. Find out more about the University of Stirling's Foundation programmes.

Additionally, the University will welcome applications from students who have completed one year of relevant university study.

Mexico

Minimum of 12/20 in Grado Academico de Bachiller or Titulo de Licenciado or Titulo (Professional) de (subject area)

USA

Undergraduate

The University of Stirling welcomes applications on the Common Application as well as UK UCAS application and our Direct Application form available on our website.

American High School Diploma:

We normally require US applicants to hold a combination of the following qualifications for entry; as a minimum, applicants must hold an accredited high school diploma with a minimum GPA of 3.0 (on a 4.0 scale, minimum B average), and one letter of reference.  We will be test-optional for entry to the 2024/2025 academic year until further notice.  If submitting test scores, we ask for any of the following:

  • ACT composite score of 26 or above (with no individual section below 24)
  • SAT - Post March 2016: Score 1200
  • Two AP tests at grade 3 or above (taken in junior or senior year of high school)
  • Two SAT II subject tests with 550-600 in each

International Baccalaureate:

We welcome applications from students studying towards the full International Baccalaureate diploma. Normally, applicants are required to obtain an overall score of between 26 - 34 points, depending on the course they're applying to. Certain subjects may be stipulated dependent on the course being applied to.

Postgraduate

We welcome applications from students holding a relevant Bachelor's degree with a GPA of 2.7 for entry to most of our Masters level courses.

Uruguay

Need help improving your English? If you don’t meet our English language entry requirements, our Pre-sessional English courses can help you progress onto your degree. Delivered on campus by INTO University of Stirling, you’ll be able to access expert training and language support.

International Society

The International Society gives students from all around the world a chance to meet each other and arrange fun events, trips and socials on campus, in Stirling or in different cities across Scotland to provide a real Scottish experience.
