MSc International Journalism

India

When I was looking for a Masters in the UK, my focus was to find a place that would prepare me to be a journalist, rather than just focusing on the theoretical aspect of it. That was precisely what attracted me to the University of Stirling.

On the course, there is a lot of flexibility to choose what to study, while being guided every step of the way. I really enjoyed the practical assignments in each module. We were given tasks that we would be doing if we were working in the field of journalism which was great practice to set us up for the real world after graduation.

We had the opportunity to attend guest lectures delivered by experienced professionals. They were eye-opening. I found them to be very inspiring, and they made us understand various aspects of the profession.

For our final module, we were given the freedom to do an investigative research project on a topic of our choice. I chose to work on a particular refugee crisis in India with the guidance of my faculty mentor. This was an experience that gave me a taste of what it would be like to be a journalist and it has made me even more passionate about the subject.
