Accredited CPD

The Stirling Framework for Evidencing Learning and Teaching Enhancement (SFELTE) is our Continuing Professional Development Framework for learning and teaching at the University of Stirling.

Mapped against the United Kingdom Professional Development Framework (UKPSF), SFELTE offers a number of pathways and programmes through which staff can gain accreditation with the HEA as an Associate Fellow, Fellow or Senior Fellow. In addition to recognition for your contribution to learning and teaching, through gaining fellowship you will become part of a supportive community of learning and teaching staff here at Stirling and beyond.

Routes through SFELTE

There are a number of routes through which staff can gain accreditation, depending on your experience and position at the university. Crucial to each of these routes is direct engagement with the Academic Development team and the CPD opportunities we offer.

Before deciding which route and category fellowship you wish to apply for, please speak to a member of the academic development team by attending our Drop-ins or emailing academicdevelopment@stir.ac.uk. This is essential for those wishing to apply for SFELTE through the experience routes.

SFELTE Experience Route

The SFELTE experience route is the main pathway through SFELTE and is the most direct route for applying for Fellowship. Generally suitable for more experienced academic staff or staff not eligible to undertake other routes, this route involves gathering evidence of CPD relating to learning and teaching and reflecting on this evidence.

Staff on this route can apply for Associate Fellow, Fellow and Senior Fellow.

LTHP 100 (credit bearing)

LTHP 100 is the first module of our PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (PGCert LTHE). This module is normally a probationary requirement for all new academic staff at the University of Stirling. Completing and passing this taught module will automatically provide recognition as Associate Fellowship. Early career academic staff may also wish to consider this route, however, priority will be given to those on academic probation.

Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education

Staff completing LTHP 100 may wish to go on to complete the full Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Supporting Learning in Higher Education. Staff completing the full PGCert will gain Fellowship with the HEA. Other staff such as early career academics, teaching fellows or those who support learning and teaching may also wish to consider this route, however, priority will be given to those on academic probation.
