Overview

This module provides students with a practical understanding of key principles of practice design to facilitate skill and performance development through the provision of engaging sessions.

Entrance requirements

A minimum of a second class Honours degree (2.1 preferred) or equivalent in a relevant subject. You must also have five years' appropriate work experience in coaching, and evidence of successful completion of sport-specific coaching qualifications is expected.

Objectives

By the end of the module students will have had the opportunity to:

  • Use appropriate research, theory, and reflection to critically evaluate practice design and strategies and develop personal coaching practice.
  • Devise innovative coaching practice through critical evaluation and application of relevant theory, research and literature.

Delivery and assessment

The module is delivered entirely online through pre-recorded presentations, learning materials, asynchronous discussion and tutorials. 
Assessment will include class discussions and a case study.

Typically, individuals who apply for a Sport Performance Coaching CPD module will already be employed in significant sport or coaching related roles. Practitioners engaging with the module will better understand themselves, their coaching practice and wider coaching context.
